World AIDS day: Accor gets involved!
Accor teams work to help fight against AIDS all over the world
In 2010 too, numerous Accor teams take action all over the world to inform and raise employee awareness of HIV/AIDS: presentation of the Group’s commitment and tools against the disease, screening of the movie “Going on a trip?” made jointly with Air France, meetings with players in the fight against HIV/AIDS, …
Around the world….
In Germany, Accor’s ACT-HIV tool against HIV/AIDS will be sent to all hotel general managers in the country.
In Sub-Saharan Africa, in more than 10 countries, December 1st will provide the occasion to identify an advisor on the subject in each hotel and to launch a photo contest with the theme “the fight against AIDS”.
In Morocco, information posters and flyers will be distributed to employees of Accor hotels in Casablanca.
In Thailand, all Accor hotels will get together to make a donation to the Mercy Center, an orphanage in Bangkok supporting AIDS victims. The hotels will give the Mercy Center the receipts from condom dispensers installed in 2009 in employee restrooms.
In Poland, the day will be marked by the intervention of a member of the Polish Ministry of Health in the head office. In addition, a quiz will be organized to test employees’ knowledge.
In France, an information flyer will be sent to all hotel employees, inviting them to approach the occupational medicine for any health questions. At the head offices in Paris and Evry, an exhibition will also be held to help raise awareness of the disease and the Group’s commitment.

Did you know that…?
Over 33 million people in the world are HIV-positive, 90% of whom are ignorant of their condition.
Fighting against HIV/AIDS is one of the Earth Guest priorities
Accor's commitment to the fight against HIV/AIDS started in 2002 in Sub-Saharan Africa, with the implementation of a comprehensive program including condom distribution, employee training and prevention actions, and financing treatment and medicines.
Accor wished to internationalize its initiative since 2005, to reaffirm its commitment publicly and to convince other tourism companies to do likewise.
At the end of 2007, the Group launched an international initiative to combat HIV/AIDS addressed to hotel and services managers through with ACT-HIV, a DVD explaining in 6 steps how to conduct a program to combat the disease.
The approach can be adapted to every situation, depending on whether or not the country has already set up a prevention program. The program is progressively being rolled out all over the world through the work of HR managers.
In 2009, Accor’s policy against HIV/AIDS was rewarded by World Savers Awards, the sustainable development trophies organized by the Condé Nast Traveler travel magazine.
