3/ Our hotel growth reached a historic milestone

“2015 will be remembered as a record-breaking year for AccorHotels’ expansion, with 36,000 new rooms opened in one year, a total of half a million rooms worldwide, and 160,000 rooms in the pipeline. This rapid growth fulfils two strategic objectives. It strengthens our presence in our leading markets and enables us to achieve leading positions in emerging markets. This is precisely what we have been doing in 2015, by opening approximately the same number of rooms in Asia-Pacific and Europe and by setting up in high-potential destinations like Angola, Saudi Arabia, Cuba and Iran. In addition, 92% of openings in 2015 were made under franchise or management contracts. This indicates that our brand portfolio is currently one of the most attractive in the sector. Two strategic deals, namely the announced acquisition of Fairmont Raffles Hotels International and the agreement sealed with Chinese Group Huazhu, will further consolidate this status in the coming years. Our guests all over the world will be the first to benefit from these achievements, with an ever-growing number of addresses and destinations under our brands.”

“The global popularity of cooking programs is a reflection of the ever-growing number of gastronomy enthusiasts. The general public has become a real expert in this field, and a demanding one! Before choosing where they want to eat or to have a drink, consumers spend a lot of time consulting online ratings and opinions. They have less and less time for meals and are hungry for simplicity and transparency. They worry about the origin and health impacts of the food they eat. In order to meet all these expectations, in 2015 we revamped our Food & Beverage offer, cooked up new concepts, included strong personalities in our teams and re-examined our procurement. That’s because we know that in the coming years our hotel restaurants and bars will play a key role in shaping a new hospitality which creates emotions and unforgettable moments.”

5/ Real-estate investment creates value

“Since 2013, AccorHotels has organized its growth model around two complementary fields of expertise, with HotelServices, the hotel operator and franchiser, and HotelInvest, the hotel owner and investor. In 2014, HotelInvest kicked off a strategy to optimize and streamline AccorHotels’ real-estate portfolio with the intention of becoming the leading investor in the economy and midscale hotel segments in Europe. As a result, HotelInvest’s portfolio decreased from 2,400 hotels in 2014, to 1,250 in 2015. The number of leased hotels in this portfolio declined, whereas the number of hotels we own increased. What is more, the value of these real-estate assets increased from €4 billion in 2014 to €7 billion today. Lastly, we plan to construct over 100 new hotels by 2018, including flagship schemes like the Novotel London Canary Wharf for over €100 million.”

7/ Sound fundamentals to support growth

The Group posted outstanding performances in 2015, with revenue of close to €5.6 billion, up 2.9% on 2014 (at constant scope of consolidation and exchange rates). Our EBIT margin amounted to 11.9%, which is almost one point more than in 2014. We generated Free Cash Flow of €341 million in 2015, compared with €304 million the previous year. At the end of 2015, the Group posted negative net debt for the first time, with a cash position of €194 million. We therefore now have a solid financial base to pursue and accelerate our transformation and growth.
